Welcome to another week!
We've
gone all gold, silver and bronze at Cloud 9 Towers this week and whilst
we remain slightly non plussed by all of the Olympic activity (we have
had to move several events as a result of the Olympic schedule), we are
looking forward to seeing the torch pass through our village this
Thursday.
The Torch will arrive in Radcliffe at 4.42pm and will be carried
through the village from the traffic lights on Bingham Road as far
as St Lawrence Boulevard where it will return to the convoy on its
way to Holme Pierrepont.
Lots of entertainment is being planned for the village centre to
interest the expected hundreds of people who will be on hand to see
what is an historic occasion for the village.
The South Notts
Academy's Samba Band and the Nottingham Concert Band will be
providing music and there will be street entertainers performing
their skills as well. The Radcliffe Skate Park Group will be
assisting in the entertainment with a display at the Wharf Lane
Recreation Ground. Play workers from Nottinghamshire County Council
will also be on hand to help with the entertainment.
And the Cloud 9 team? Well, seeing as the torch is passing directly by
the window of our local, we have booked a table in a prime position in
the pub so we can raise a glass as it goes by ! So in a way, we are getting in the spirit!
Fresh continues to be high on the agenda at present as the second of the films featuring Fresh Mums makes it debut this week.
This
one, featuring the Mum of Tom Richards, from BJL, is part of a series
of films created by McCann Erickson in Birmingham to promote Fresh 2012,
which closes for entries on 20th July, so just a few weeks left to
closing date! We've lots of new categories this year and the opportunity
to be featured as part of the Fresh Breakthrough, a section for those
who have never entered before. Do take a look as it will be well worth
your while!

We're
still working away on the CIPR Northern Conference which has been
postponed until 11th October so please look out for updates and new
speaker announcements coming soon.
Let's
face it, June has been a bit of a wash-out weather wise and whilst
normally we would all be sporting our summer gear, woolly jumpers and
wellingtons have been more the order of the day.
Whilst
we cannot predict the weather here at Cloud 9 (even the forecasters can
get it wrong a couple of days in advance), we thought that Trousers
might just be the thing for Friday. Or rather, the wrong trousers.....
On 29 June 2012 it’s Wrong Trousers Day.
This is your chance to don your craziest trousers all for a great
cause. Now in its 12th year, the day is inspired by Nick Park’s Wallace
and Gromit film, The Wrong Trousers . The Wallace and Gromit's Children's Foundation aims to raise money for sick children in hospitals and hospices throughout the UK. http://www.wallaceandgromitfoundation.org/
So if like Wallace and Gromit you have a thing for crazy
contraptions and wacky trousers, this is a chance to express yourself
and donate to a great cause!
Anyone can take part, whether it’s at school or in the workplace! All you need to do is
register
and each person taking part donates £1 to wear their favourite ‘wrong’
trousers instead of their usual work clobber! Once your event has been
registered you will receive a free fund raising pack and then it's up to
you to get everyone you know involved in Wrong Trousers Day - and
hopefully you will all raise lots of money - just for wearing the wrong
trousers, it really couldn't be easier!
All
the money raised will go towards building new children’s hospitals and
hospices and funding for specialist equipment. So far the day has given
out over £1.3 million in grants, so its
time to make 2012 bigger than ever before!
So that's its for another week! Have a good one!
