What's Floating Around Cloud 9? 6th August

Welcome to another week, and we are delighted to introduce Harriet, our guest blogger for the week!

A big hello to all fellow bloggers! I’m Harriet and I’ll be this week’s blogger as the new event assistant of Cloud 9 and I’m honored to be a part of the wonderful team here! I’ve recently finished my first year studying for an Events Management degree at Leeds Metropolitan University – thankfully with flying colours! Paula has kindly taken me on into the world of events here as a placement student where I’m giving a helping hand with all the up and coming exciting arrangements! So far I’ve had to opportunity to be involved with manic lead up to The Fresh Awards 2012, the organisation of the judging period in the Cotswolds, The CIPR Northern Conference and our Dazzling Table Displays hire service, phew!

So without further ado let’s find out what’s going on around Cloud 9 Towers.

I’ve been given a brilliant opportunity to explore the wonders of the beautiful Cotswolds for The Fresh Awards judging period next week. I’m over the moon about this experience as I’ve never had the chance to go to the Cotswolds previously and can’t wait to see what it has to offer! Did you know Sheep were once the source of wealth in the Cotswolds? Let’s hope we see some!

Brides are clutching some alternative bouquets these days, and we love the romantic feel they seem to have. Gone are the days when a bride was required to carry a perfectly round bouquet - we think the imperfect ones look fabulous! In fact how about a bunch of peacock feathers?! Take a look and see what you think! http://www.dazzlingtabledisplays.com/

Colour POP! We have noticed the vibrant hits of color literally popping up at every turn in weddings these days. There are so many different ways to incorporate this trend into your big day. Give us a shout here at Cloud 9 Towers for some dazzling table displays and we’re sure to find you something to brighten up your venue!

Think pink! It's the wedding decor colour of the year… Rumor has it; Pink will be making a comeback (not the artist!). You’ll see pale pinks in combination with neutrals such as champagnes and creams. How quaint! For your perfectly pink day, have a look around http://www.dazzlingtabledisplays.com/

Whether it is keeping ahead of the continual changes in the digital and social media sectors, making the leap to being a sole practitioner or starting your own consultancy, or making sure you are mentally fit to face the future of this increasingly diverse industry, then the 2012 Northern Conference is one you cannot afford to miss. Visit http://ciprnc2012-es2.eventbrite.com/?rank=1 to book your place now!

We’ve got some star speakers this year for the CIPR Northern Conference including Max Clifford, Emma Leech from the University of Nottingham and Dominic Burch from Asda. We’re going panal-tastic! In the morning delegates can enjoy two of three different panel sessions; Video Broadcasting, Journalism and Social Media. The panels will cover a range of practical advice and insights from real experts in their field. http://ciprnc2012-es2.eventbrite.com/?rank=1 follow the link to book your place - See you there!

Have a great week!

What's Floating Around Cloud 9? 9th July

Welcome to another week!

We start with some big news regarding the CIPR Northern Conference which has now been rescheduled for the final time, to Wednesday 31st October. The venue has also changed and the event will now take place at Leeds Metropolitan University.

There has been a number of factors regarding the decision to amend the date, but ultimately it is to accommodate the very special guest speaker we have managed to secure for the event - none other than Max Clifford. Max has been in the business of public relations protecting and promoting a wide variety of clients for well over 40 years. He has become as instantly recognisable as many of the stars he has represented over the years. His views and comments are sought on a daily basis for the world’s media on a wide range of subjects and he regularly appears on TV and radio as a guest on current affairs, news, documentaries and chat shows.

Also during the last 20 years he has become increasingly involved with many of the major front page stories in the British media. He now regularly breaks stories and stops stories in between orchestrating PR campaigns for a multitude of clients from all over the world and is also patron of two children’s charities and helps fundraise and supports many others. Often poacher and gamekeeper at the same time, he has helped save many a famous career from media damage and destruction. Increasingly during the last decade, he is approached by members of the public who seek out his help to get justice and awareness often when all other means have failed.

Maxwell Frank Clifford was born in April 1943 at Kingston Hospital, Surrey. He is the youngest of four children by his father Frank, an electrical engineer and his mother, Lilian, a full time housewife. The Clifford siblings were raised in South Wimbledon, London. When Max left his local secondary modern school at fifteen years of age, he had nothing but his Honours degree in street-raking. His first job, in a very old fashioned local department store, was totally unsuitable for someone with his temperament and attitude to authority and he soon became bored to distraction. Not surprisingly it was only a matter of time before he was sacked.

Max has always been an avid sportsman. He played football and water polo and boxed in his youth but now prefers to swim and play tennis. It was through the sport that he was offered a a job as a junior sports reporter on the Merton and Morden News. Next stop was the EMI records press office in 1962, where practically his first assignment was to promote an unknown band from Liverpool called The Beatles. The rest is history…

The Fresh Awards deadline is looming large folks and the 20th July is the date to remember. Entries have been pouring in thick and fast from around the UK so if you want to showcase your creative talents this year, there is still time. Entering is incredibly easy using our online system so check out the site today and get Fresh - before its too late!

Whilst we are on our Fresh theme, don't forget to watch the final installment of the great Fresh films, this one featuring Mrs McSweeney, Mum of Vince, from McCann's in Birmingham. The expressions are priceless!

We end the week with a tribute to a special friend of ours who is celebrating the big 50 this weekend. We don't quite know what the beard is all about but she assures me, she'll have a good shave before we hit the town in Manchester to celebrate this weekend!

Happy Birthday Sarah!

Have a great week everyone!
